May 16 Update

Update by Gareth Hallam - Site Supervisor gareth@abseilaccess.co.nz http://www.abseilaccess.co.nz/

Monthly updates will be sent out as reminders to stay well clear of the area, due to high risk of rockfall & other hazards.  The timeframe may be subject to change but will be advised.  You may hear the sound of drilling, explosives and helicopters as part of this work.  Please note that the closure of Evans Pass Road and the tracks on the slopes above Evans Pass will be enforced between 8am and 5pm Monday to Friday.  There is no access permitted to the public due to the multiple hazards that are present on this site.  We look forward to your support through this part of the earthquake remediation works.

April 26 2012 Update

Update by Alex Schultz - project engineer http://www.geovert.com/

Christchurch City Council are moving forward with works to progressively remove potential rockfall sources above Summit Rd. Due to further works, the scheduled completion date has been extended to 13 May 2012.
Traffic management will continue to close Summit Rd (Broadleaf Ln to Evans Pass Rd) and Mt Pleasant Rd (Upper Major Hornbrook Rd and Summit Rd). The closure will be implemented from 7am to 6pm Monday to Friday.  Adjacent walking paths and cycling tracks will also be closed. Daily signage will be posted at trail heads to advise the public of our activities.  Please stay clear of this area due to the high risk of rockfall and associated work environment involving drilling and explosives.  We aim to minimise any disruption to effected residents, users of Summit Rd and the adjacent walking and mountain biking tracks.  We thank you in advance for your continued assistance.
