Ferrymead Bridge Update

17 July 2012

17 July Update

We are continuing to work through the issues to finalise the design for the new bridge and now expect this work will be completed mid-September. We are confident of getting a suitable design finalised by this time which will enable us to begin negotiating the construction contract and work programme.

In the meantime, we are proceeding with transferring services from the existing bridge to the temporary structures and completing the approaches to these. Traffic will be diverted onto the temporary structures as soon as work can start demolishing the existing bridge. This is now expected to be in about five months.

Work on the temporary structures, as you will be aware, was planned to be completed last month. However, this work was delayed while we finalised the design for the bridge.
